Sabinsa's pTeroSol® is the water-soluble fraction obtained from the heartwood of Pterocarpus marsupium and standardized to contain a minimum of 5% C-glycosides (as Pterocarposide and Sabioside).
Pterocarposide belongs to the class of compounds called C-glycosides, and it has been found that the Pterocarpus contains several other naturally occurring C-glycosides, which may be responsible for its anti-diabetic activity. Sabioside is another water-soluble c-glycoside compound isolated from the heartwood of P. marsupium in-house.

C-glycosides are aromatic and heteroaromatic, in which the glucose moiety binds aglycone directly through a carbon-carbon bond. This enhances the chemical stability of the glycosidic bond in these molecules and is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract without modification of the prodrug form (Meng et al., 2008). They have been found to be effective sodium–glucose co-transporter2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, a novel approach to blood sugar management.
